Weiss Ratings Releases List of U.S. Banks Earning Rare A+ Rating 5 Years in a Row
PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL (May 9, 2018) – Weiss Ratings, the nation’s leading independent provider of ratings and analysis of financial service companies, today announced 12 U.S. banks have retained an A+ rating for the last five years. Weiss Ratings recognizes these 12 banks as “Weiss Recommended” banks offering excellent financial stability for its customers, vendors and employees.
“Out of the 5,629 U.S. banks that we rate, only 12 banks, or .02%, have earned this distinction,” said Gavin Magor, Ratings Director. “Achieving an A+ Weiss Financial Strength Rating for five straight years is a rare achievement.”
Of the 12 banks, 11 were community banks, with total assets less than $1B, proving size really doesn’t matter when it comes to financial stability.
Other interesting findings:
- Six of the banks were located in Iowa or Texas (three each)
- First Security Bank was the largest bank on the list with $5B in Assets (the only one above $1B)
- Reynolds State Bank, the oldest bank on the list (est. 1888) was the only Illinois bank
